German composer Jan Masanetz (born in Leipzig in 1979) studied Composition with Manfred Trojahn at Düsseldorf University of Music „Robert Schumann“ and with Wolfgang Rihm at Karlsruhe University of Music.
As a composer he is primarily interested in vocal music, his focus ranging from song to opera.

His music has been performed by internationally renowned artists at concerts and festivals throughout. He has worked with internationally renowned artists and ensembles such as Arditti String Quartet, Deutsche Radiophilharmonie, Staatskapelle Halle, Badische Staatskapelle, MDR Radio Choir, Mutare Ensemble, Internationale Ensemble Modern Akademie, Orkest de Ereprijs, as well as conductors Howard Arman, Golo Berg, David Jones, Johannes Kalitzke and Konstantia Gourzi. His works have appeared at Darmstädter Ferienkurse, the „Next Generation Concerts“ of Donaueschinger Musiktage, St Magnus Festival in Scotland, Festival Mouvement Saarbrücken, Heidelberger Frühling and others.

His music has been awarded various prizes in international composition competitions (Frankfurt a.M., Munich, Leipzig, Halle).
Jan is a German National Merit Foundation scholarship holder. He has also been a grantee of "Aribert Reimann-Foundation for the promotion of contemporay song“ as well as „Winfried Steinbrenner -Foundation for the promotion of classical music“.
